MIA’s New Song Inspiration: Verizon Tech Support

If practically having a baby onstage wasn’t enough, she’s apparently written a song inspired by being on hold for Verizon Internet tech support. Can’t wait for the hook by my Pinoy call center folk.

The new tracks include β€œI Fight the Ones That Fight Me” and β€œI’m Down Like Your Internet Connection,” which actually features Filipino Verizon workers singing the hook. β€œI was having issues with my cable and wireless, and I was on the phone [with tech support] for three hours, and I thought, β€˜Maybe this needs to be part of my music, could you just learn these lyrics and sing it down the phone to me?’ Ten phone calls later, I have Internet that sticks and a song.”

Apple has said absolutely nothing about its tablet, but everyone expects it to be unveiled in San Francisco on Jan. 27. So, that gives you to two week’s to play in Valleywag’s Apple Tablet Scavenger Hunt: If you can find genuine photos, video or β€” the holy grail β€” the actual messiah machine itself, we’ll give you a cash prize. We’ve even drawn up the helpful menu above.

Lego, Meet MUJI

Lego has released a collaboration with MUJI, a Japanese clothing/house products brand which is known for its minimalist, no-logo aesthetic. Neat.

Muji and Lego collaboration.

Muji & Lego recently released a joint product that consists of a box of Lego pieces that also comes with sheets of paper β€” with a particular hole-punch (not included), the paper and Legos can be combined into some cute creations.
